Why is it important to know what material your candle is made of?

Posted by Denisse Vazquez on

Have you noticed that candles are at key moments in our lives? On a birthday, at a wake, in a moment of relaxation, when wanting to connect spiritually or to say a prayer. In ancient times respect was shown to distinguished people by lighting a candle.

You go to a supermarket and there you find them, easy at your fingertips. But do you know what material is the candle you bought made of? If you bought it at the supermarket, it is most likely made of paraffin - wax extracted from a mixture of saturated hydrocarbons derived from petroleum .

It is authorized by the FDA, however, studies have been done where the continued use of paraffin candles can affect your health. It is important to take this into account to take care of yourself and your family.

There are other types of candle wax, such as soy wax, which is biodegradable, environmentally friendly and safer for your health. In addition, soy wax is renewable, easy to clean and last much longer.

In summary, a paraffin candle is not so bad, but if you have a much more ecological and convenient option at your fingertips , why not choose that one?
